de Vere’s Irish Pub, Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Bar, and DeMarcus Cousins have joined charitable forces this holiday season to create the first Golden Ticket Toy Drive—an effort to help local kids in need and reward donors for their generosity!
From November 29 to December 9, all Mikuni and de Vere’s restaurants will be accepting donations of new toys and personal items for the Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree, a non-profit 501c3, all-volunteer local charity that helps children year-round. In return for the charitable gesture, everyone who donates will be given an envelope, which may contain a golden ticket good for amazing prizes!
On December 10, all lucky golden ticket holders will present their ticket at Mikuni Midtown to retrieve one of several prizes, awarded by Mikuni founder Taro Arai (the Willy Wonka of sushi). There will also be a kick-off event at de Vere’s Irish Pub in Sacramento on November 26 from 2-3pm. NBA star and Golden Ticket Toy Drive supporter DeMarcus Cousins will be at both events to promote the cause.
Those who cannot make a toy or item donation, but would still like to contribute, can make a cash donation at www.goldenticketca.com. (No golden ticket entry for online donations.)
Thanks to the Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree, all donations will go to children who are homeless, hospitalized, grieving the loss of a parent, brother, or sister, or simply in need of basic items. In its 11th year, the local charity makes wishes come true for nearly 700 grieving, needy, and hospitalized children each year.

The Irish Coffee Challenge
The Irish Coffee Challenge is not just for anyone–it’s for those who take coffee, whiskey, and road trips seriously. de Vere’s Irish Pub challenges you to compare their Almost Famous Irish Coffees to the world famous Irish Coffees at The Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco–and tell us which one you like best!
Why? Our regulars often comment on how incredible our Irish Coffees are and almost always reference the Buena Vista’s in the same sentence. So we created this experience to allow people to vote on their favorite Irish coffee. The challenge is simple, and requires a small journey, but will lead to the discovery of the best Irish Coffee.
You’ll need to order Irish Coffees at both establishments, take pictures of your challenge experience, and secure a sober driver. Are you up for the challenge?
Take the Irish Coffee Challenge!

We are super honored to be mentioned in Sactown Magazine's Best of Brunch feature in their February/March issue. What do their discerning editor Kate Washington suggest?
"Don't miss the corned beef hash, with plenty of delectable crispy bits, or the Nutella-stuffed challah French toast. Above all, don't forget it's still a pub, with an excellent selection of brunch cocktails: If the Tullamore Dew Irish coffees topped with thick whipped cream don't sate you, then try the 'Man-Mosa,' made with Harp lager."
Pick up an issue to get the full review. Thanks Sactown!
We've always liked HP Sauce with our fish and chips...and now we like it even more. That's because they've created these commemorative bottle designs in honor of Movember. The best part: different "motivational" phrases, like:
“Moustaches keep your upper lip warm.”
“Men with moustaches look stronger.”
“A great mo makes a great man.”

Our Bourbon Burger was named one of Sacramento Magazine's top 30 dishes! Come in an experience the masterpiece...
"This meaty treasure sounds boozy, but it's not. Messy and spectacularly flavorful, the burger is composed of a first-rate, house-ground chuck patty laid on a chewy-fluffy bun. Smothered in melted smoked cheddar cheese, the dish is lavished with a spicy bourbon-bacon barbecue sauce and finished off with lettuce, a couple of juicy tomato slices and--the piece de resistance--sweet, crusty fried onions. Be prepared to do a lot of finger licking as you work your way through this fabulous burger, and enjoy it with one of de Vere's fresh draught beers."
You asked, we answered.
Recently, we got some complaints from Davis diners that the bench on the patio needed some TLC. Thanks to their feedback, we were able to call in the handyman and fix the problem.
Behold, the new bench!
We really do welcome your feedback. It helps us better our business and our relationship with our pub families. If you want to share any ideas, complaints, or kudos you may have, please take a minute and fill out our short online survey. We would really appreciate it!
Fun news on the tech front: de Vere's Irish Pub was featured on App Addictive's blog, as this week's AA Customer Spotlight!
We use this app to help manage content we promote on our social media pages, so they wanted to know how, specifically, AA works well for us.
Check out the Q&A they did with Henry de Vere White HERE.
You've been asking for it, and now it's here! Brunch is now available at de Vere's in Davis on Saturdays and Sundays. Check out the menu below to tempt your taste buds. If you have trouble choosing a dish, try one of our bestsellers. Fan favorites include the Irish Bacon Benedict, The Fry Up, and the Housemade Granola. We also suggest ordering the Almond Crusted Pound Cake French Toast--it's a new addition, but we're pretty sure people will be craving it weekly after just one bite. Don't forget to indulge in something from the breakfast bar, too. Bottomless Bottle Service is just $10!
We're looking forward to seeing our Davis pub family more during the weekends!

Pop the bubbly! Bubbly water, that is. We don't want to brag, but we've found the tastiest, most refreshing sparkling water of all time: Llanllyr Source. We may not be able to pronounce it (some of us call it "lawn chair), but we LOVE to drink it. It doesn't have that acidic bite that San Pellegrino has...it's just crisp and clean and perfectly carbonated.
Llanllyr Source water comes from a source beneath certified organic fields in west Wales in the UK--a place that has supplied water for over 800 years. (Actually a Cistercian nunnery was established there in 1180, and it survived for over 400 years!)
Order a bottle of it next time you're in, drop a lime wedge in, and enjoy...then let us know what you think! We're kind of obsessed...
After three successful St. Patrick’s Day events, it’s become apparent that de Vere’s Irish Pub has outgrown a one-day celebration. So this year, we’re dedicating an entire week to our favorite holiday! From Sunday, March 11th to Sunday, March 18th, we will be hosting eight unique and authentic events, all of which will be free to the public. To boot, we will be offering exclusive food and drink specials throughout the week.
Being the only Irish-owned and Irish-run pub in town, we want to make sure we give everyone in the community an opportunity to celebrate St. Patrick’s and experience our pub in their own way. This year, you can be mellow throughout the week with traditional fare and a pint or join the madhouse on St. Patrick's Day for a truly festive time. Let the session begin!
Sunday, March 11 – Shamrockin’ Sunday
Whether you were a runner or just a spectator at the Shamrock’n Half Marathon (we won’t judge!), come recover and carbo load at the pub. We’ll be serving up a full brunch, compete with our Almost Famous Irish Coffees, bottomless champagne bottle service, and Bloody Mary’s to help you wind down and loosen up those muscles. We’ll even have lemon-lime Gatorade to help you refuel, festively!
Monday, March 12 – St. Baldrick’s Day
How much money would it take for you to shave your head? What if all that money went to making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer? That’s what St. Baldrick’s Day is all about—going bald for a good cause. Come shave your head—and collect donations for doing so—or watch others get buzzed bald. We have partnered with the Keating Raphael Memorial to host another successful St. Baldrick’s event. All money raised will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Sign up or donate: http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/44/2012
Tuesday, March 13 – T-Shirt Tuesday
Come grab a beer and get your St. Pat’s gear! Pre-order their St. Patrick’s 2012 t-shirts (custom designed by de Vere’s) between now and March 13. Then come pick it up and have a pre-St. Pat’s pint at the pub! Order your t-shirt in advance so you won’t be caught without your green!
Pre-order your t-shirts at: http://stpatstshirt.eventbrite.com
Wednesday, March 14 – Whiskey Wednesday
By now you’ve probably heard we have the biggest whiskey offering in town, so why not come take advantage of it? On the fourth day of St. Pat’s week, join our in-house experts and ambassadors from various whiskey labels for whiskey tastings, education, and cocktails featuring our favorite spirit. From 6pm-8pm, you’ll be able to bounce around multiple tasting stations while expanding your palate and taking advantage of 50% off Whiskey Society memberships if you so choose. Enjoy 2 tastes for $5 and 5 tastes for $10.
Thursday, March 15 – TraDISHional Thursday
To continue our week of specials, we are hosting a night of beyond-the-norm pub fare. Bring your friends and family to enjoy this one-night-only menu, which will include authentic Irish favorites such as corned beef and cabbage and traditional lamb stew. Plus, if you order a 20-oz pint of Guinness, you’ll get your own pint glass to take home! (One per person.)
Friday, March 16 – Kings Fan Friday
In true St. Patrick’s spirit, the Sacramento Kings are playing the Boston Celtics at the Power Balance Pavilion, and we’re offering discounted tickets to the game. We’ll also have a tent outside the Kings Store where you can pick up your exclusive pre-ordered St. Patrick’s Day 2012 t-shirt. A portion of all ticket and t-shirt proceeds will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. You can order your special priced tickets at: http://www.kingsticketsave.com/getbald
Saturday, March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day Pub Party
The big day is finally here! Doors will open at 8am and the Ireland vs. England rugby game starts airing live at 10am! There is truly no better place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than at de Vere’s, the only Irish-owned and Irish-run pub in Sacramento. Plus, there’s no cover! Come celebrate in true Irish fashion--and don't forget your green!
Sunday, March 18 – Family Sunday
St. Patrick’s Day might be over, but that doesn’t mean the festivities have stopped! Whether you overdid it on Saturday and need a place to recover, or you stayed in to avoid amateur hour, come join us for a family friendly brunch featuring good food, live music, and more.
