St. Baldrick's Day 2014

St. Baldrick's Day is coming!

How much money would it take to shave your head? What if all that money went to making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer? That’s what St. Baldrick’s Day is all about—going bald for a good cause.

Every year, we gather the community for a one-day event that brings together teams of people willing to shave their heads bald as a sign of solidarity with children who are fighting cancer. All participants, which include local businesses, schools, politicians, de Vere’s patrons, and even plenty of women, raise money in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, then congregate at de Vere’s Irish Pub (Midtown Sacramento and Davis) to shave their heads. And yes, we’re talkin’ buzzed bald!

Golden Ticket Toy Drive

Golden Ticket Toy Drivede Vere’s Irish Pub, Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Bar, and DeMarcus Cousins have joined charitable forces this holiday season to create the first Golden Ticket Toy Drive—an effort to help local kids in need and reward donors for their generosity!

From November 29 to December 9, all Mikuni and de Vere’s restaurants will be accepting donations of new toys and personal items for the Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree, a non-profit 501c3, all-volunteer local charity that helps children year-round. In return for the charitable gesture, everyone who donates will be given an envelope, which may contain a golden ticket good for amazing prizes!

On December 10, all lucky golden ticket holders will present their ticket at Mikuni Midtown to retrieve one of several prizes, awarded by Mikuni founder Taro Arai (the Willy Wonka of sushi). There will also be a kick-off event at de Vere’s Irish Pub in Sacramento on November 26 from 2-3pm. NBA star and Golden Ticket Toy Drive supporter DeMarcus Cousins will be at both events to promote the cause.

Those who cannot make a toy or item donation, but would still like to contribute, can make a cash donation at www.goldenticketca.com. (No golden ticket entry for online donations.)

Thanks to the Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree, all donations will go to children who are homeless, hospitalized, grieving the loss of a parent, brother, or sister, or simply in need of basic items. In its 11th year, the local charity makes wishes come true for nearly 700 grieving, needy, and hospitalized children each year.

- Mikuni Roseville

Sacramento St. Patrick's 2012: Let the Session Begin!

After three successful St. Patrick’s Day events, it’s become apparent that de Vere’s Irish Pub has outgrown a one-day celebration. So this year, we’re dedicating an entire week to our favorite holiday! From Sunday, March 11th to Sunday, March 18th, we will be hosting eight unique and authentic events, all of which will be free to the public. To boot, we will be offering exclusive food and drink specials throughout the week.

Being the only Irish-owned and Irish-run pub in town, we want to make sure we give everyone in the community an opportunity to celebrate St. Patrick’s and experience our pub in their own way. This year, you can be mellow throughout the week with traditional fare and a pint or join the madhouse on St. Patrick's Day for a truly festive time. Let the session begin!

Sunday, March 11 – Shamrockin’ Sunday

Whether you were a runner or just a spectator at the Shamrock’n Half Marathon (we won’t judge!), come recover and carbo load at the pub.  We’ll be serving up a full brunch, compete with our Almost Famous Irish Coffees, bottomless champagne bottle service, and Bloody Mary’s to help you wind down and loosen up those muscles. We’ll even have lemon-lime Gatorade to help you refuel, festively!

Monday, March 12 – St. Baldrick’s Day

How much money would it take for you to shave your head? What if all that money went to making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer? That’s what St. Baldrick’s Day is all about—going bald for a good cause. Come shave your head—and collect donations for doing so—or watch others get buzzed bald. We have partnered with the Keating Raphael Memorial to host another successful St. Baldrick’s event. All money raised will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Meet Zoe: An Inspiring St. Baldrick's Shavee!

Meet Zoe! She is 5 years old and childhood cancer SURVIVOR! When Zoe heard there was a St. Baldrick’s event in Davis, she told her mom that she HAD to shave her head!

Zoe was diagnosed with a very very rare form of Leukemia, which was considered a fatal disease 20 years ago. But now, with the new research found for her type of cancer, her doctors were able to treat her to save her life!

Please help support Zoe by donating to her page and coming out to de Vere's in Davis on March 15th and cheering her on! Her mom will be there to say a few words about how important and meaningful St. Baldrick's research means their family--you won't want to miss it!

Sacramento vs. Davis

This year, we're doing a battle of the pubs: Which de Vere's pub (Sacramento or Davis) can raise more money? The challenge is on!

SACRAMENTO

Monday, March 12, 5pm

DAVIS

Thursday March 15th 5pm

To sign up as a shavee or donate to the Davis team, click here.

We hope you’ll all come out and get involved. It’s truly an inspiring and entertaining evening to participate in as well as watch. (There’s literally an assembly line of headshavers and shavees!)

Please help de Vere’s Irish Pub support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation by making a donation on our behalf to support childhood cancer research.
